Water quality compliance monitoring for priority pollutants that are regulated by the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) can be achieved with TMI’s analytical systems. The levels of volatile and semi-volatile components in waste streams are determined by gas chromatography (GC)/mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation. Separate GC/MS instrumentation systems are maintained and utilized for volatile and semi-volatile classes of compounds. TMI has accrued extensive experience in the analysis of pesticides using this analytical capability. Levels of analytical detection are in the parts per million (PPM) or parts per billion (PPB) range depending on the particular compound(s) being analyzed.

Metals analysis is an important facet of this NPDES monitoring. TMI’s sophisticated inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and graphite furnace atomic absorption (GFAA) instrumentation can accomplish this comprehensive testing very effectively. The levels of detection for a wide variety of metals, including but not limited to, arsenic, chromium, copper, lead, silver, mercury and zinc are in the parts per million (PPM) or parts per billion (PPB) range depending on the matrix.
